In Paper #3, the audience that I am going to target is the government of Florida. The reason why I am going to target them is because of the recent case of Trayvon Martin. Trayvon Martin is a 17 year old black male who was shot and killed by an alleged white man named George Zimmerman who is 28. Trayvon Martin was walking back home coming from a nearby corner store and had nothing but an Arizona Tea and Skittles, he was on his way to visit his father’s fiancé who lived in a gated community in Sanford, Florida. George Zimmerman called the police to “report” a suspicious person; he described Martin as a black male in a red hoody and was acting ”strangely”. Zimmerman was driving his SUV when he seen Martin, he got out of the SUV and followed Martin while he was on the phone with the police dispatcher. The police dispatcher asked Zimmerman if he was following Martin, he replied yes and the dispatcher told Zimmerman that he should not be doing that. In between all of this they got into a physical altercation and Trayvon Martin was found dead with a gun shot wound to the chest. Even though Geroge Zimmeman shot and killed Trayon Martin, Zimmerman is still not in prison because he said he shot Martin out of Self Defense, when clearly he was following Martin when he shouldn’t have been. This all goes back to Florida’s controversial “Stand Your Ground” Law Zimmerman still has not been arrested. Florida’s Stand-Your-Ground law states that a person may use deadly force in self-defense when there is reasonable belief of a threat, without an obligation to retreat first. I feel that in Trayvon Martins condition Zimmerman is getting off of the hook because there were no other witnesses there too see the entire altercation so the authority is going off of what Zimmerman is saying. Zimmerman would have not been in any kind of danger if he wouldn’t have been following Martin in the first place. Florida should change this law because there can be a lot of other situations where people can say that they killed someone over “self-defense.” There is already a big enough problem in Florida having one of the biggest crime and death rates in American and if Zimemrnam gets of the this case innocent, I feel that people will start more murders and people and using this law to their advantage by saying they were “defending themselves”.

Some dissonance I’ve noted in skiing culture is the viewpoints of racers versus powder skiers. They often look down on each other and think that their way is the right way, and the other is wrong. As somebody who has done a bit of both I don’t understand where all the clashing is coming from, the both share many of the same goals and impacts.
I think the clashing is coming from the fact that they a re supposedly to whole different type of sports when in fact they are the same exact thing so there is no need for clashing.
I don’t have any dissonances at the moment but I am going to use tattoos for my next topic because I want to look in something more interesting. I am thinking about doing some type of tribe were i can do deep research and find out some interesting things. Tribes have alot of interesting beliefs and morals that are a lot different from the average culture.

Overall, this article was really interesting and in my opinion, true. What really caught my attention in the article was when the author started to talk about how big of a difference social networking, television, internet and things of that nature changed the US. In my opinion, I think that is extremely true because like the author stated, before all the new things had came out on the TV and the internet, one would use to have to ask themselves, what is going to happen on the next show. Because you can easily find out whats going to happen on the internet and that in a way spoils everything for people who would want to wait. Another thing that really caught my attention was when the author brought up the fact how everything is kind of getting repeated. “Everything we have today that’s cool comes from someone wanting more of something they loved in the past. Action figures, video games, superhero movies..” I have always known that movies that come out today and even video games are based off of things that have already happened in the past just with a little twist on it to make it seem like they came up with the idea themselves. So I always wonder what will society do when these ideas can no longer be repeated or will they always be able to be repeated?
will3626: I think its cool that you ski bro. It takes a lot to do that because I know that I wouldn’t do it lol.
One of the pictures from my trip to Aspen, Colorado shows my ski tips, along with those of my two friends, hanging off the edge of a steep mogul run as the last rays of sun hit the far side of the valley. This picture gives the impression that I am a hardcore skier because of the difficulty of the run and the lateness in the day. It shows that I like a challenge and squeezing in every possible moment of skiing before the sun sets.
On my Facebook page I like to post a lot of things that I think about throughout the day an I also like to write a lot of quotes and lyrics. The things that I put on Facebook always reflect back to some portion of my life or what i am trying to accomplish. For example, recently I just posted a verse from a song and it said “Gotta keep it pushin, cant let the government tell me how my future lookin.” When I first heard this verse from “Kendrick Lamar’s The Heart. Pt.2” I knew that this exactly a representation of what I live by. This verse is saying , I am going to work hard so I can be able to choose what I want to do later on in life instead of the government telling me what I can and can not do. I choose quotes like this because when I go through a rough day or a tough practice, I can relate back to these quotes and constantly remind myself why I am going through a struggle, and that is to successful later on in life.
